Discrimination: The act or power of discriminating. The discernment of distinctions; differential treatment; bias: discrimination against minorities.
Racism: An excessive an irrational belief in or advocacy of the superiority of a given group, people, or nation on racial grounds alone; race hatred.
Prejudice: A judgment or opinion, favorable or unfavorable, formed beforehand or without due examination; a mental decision based on other grounds than reason or justice; especially, a premature or adversely biased opinion.

Some facts for consideration:

*March 21, 1960 in Sharpeville, South Africa, peaceful demonstrators against racism were killed for protesting against "apartheid."
*In 1966, the United Nations declared March 21, the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
*On December 20, 1983, the General Assembly of the United Nations asked all countries to help stop racism.
*On March 21, 1986, the Prime Minister in the House of Commons asked all Canadians to work together to end racism and racial discrimination. Respect, equality and justice for all Canadians was the goal.
*In September 1988, government ministers attending a conference agreed to remember March 21 all across Canada.
